Yesterday they were showing glimpses of a local hockey tournament in Punjab - being played on a bumpy grassy ground. How can we expect for this sports to flourish in Pakistan.

Pakistan's hockey team is just impossible to understand

Now let's examine the results so far

1-2 against Australia (not bad at all considering they were up against the best team in the world)
2-0 against Spain (unexpected but very good win nevertheless)

2-5 against Germany (expected defeat but probably should not have lost so badly considering the above results)
2-2 against Malaysia (very poor)
1-4 against Britain (hugely disappointing)

We are no world-beaters for sure but looking at the results it seems that inconsistency/unpredictability plagues our team in hockey as much as in any other sport notably cricket.

Are we just crap in hockey and the top two results were nothing but plain 'tukka'?

Did you know what happened at the last Asia Cup? Almost same results! And that was the worst tournement in Pakistan hockey's histroy - 6th at Asia Cup! Shameful!

We can now forget about beating or even drawing with the likes of Korea and Holland. Will probably finish second from the bottom :)

And then they will be out of the next CT. They should at least finish 5th here. For that they have to win both the games and the 5th-6th play off.

Pakistan drew with Korea 3-3! But still that did not improve its chances to avoid relegation.

They at least need to draw against the dutch on saturday to secure 6th spot in league and then play and win the 5-6 play off to be included in the next CT.
