Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

**Strauss showed great sportsmen spirit when he called Mathews back (after given run out) in last game against Srilanka .... but he is not allowing a runner for Smith in this game ..

Meanwhile ... .SA are 8 down
**

:hmmm: England..!

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

South Africans start out as favorites, but end up being the 1st one to exit a tournament. bummer.

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

**Smith didn't got the 5th chance in this match .....
He is finally gone ...

SA need 50 more runs to win in 19 balls...
**

Anderson 3/33 doing the most damage today

274/9

Smith gone for a brilliant 140. feel sorry for him!

South Africa have been badly let down by their bowlers in this tournament

324 always looked stiff

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

Damn...I lost €280,000...Gone

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

*6 sixes needed now
*

What??!!Was it real money??

They should just target 313 now

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

**Smith gone
SA gone
Chokers gone

England. :hula:

How the mighty fall.
**

SA 301/9 (50 overs) are out of CT

Equation:

If England beat NZ on Sep 29 - England and Sri Lanka qualify for the semis
If NZ beat England - England and NZ reach the semis

It wont depends on run rate ?

Sri Lanka's net run rate is better than NZ's

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

SA is out. NZ or SL? depends on the net run rate. Even if NZ lose they will have to make sure their RR is above SL to go through.

Rameez Raja and Haroon Rashid also saying that Smith should have taken the last PP as soon as Morkel had arrived at the crease. Delaying it made SA's job harder

(ps. Shah was born in Karachi)

Re: Champions Trophy 2009: South Africa v England at Centurion, Sep 27

not exactly choking yar :smack:

chasing 323 , batting second, under pressure (do or die) - SA did a great job of turning it into a match, other teams might have lost the match without even starting to bat, against this humongous total.

Saffies at least put everything into it, were on the offensive - Smith did a great job, it was just a matter of one or two good overs, if some of their tulla baazi had worked and they managed 15 - 18 runs for one or two overs in the death stages, then it would have been another story - Lets give credit where its due.

England should be happy - they beat a formidable opponent :k:

Agreed SA’s batting effort cannot be described as choking but their bowlers did choke under pressure. Owais Shah, Eoin Morgan (had not even heard of him!) and Collingwood are NOT world-class ODI batsmen by any count. They are average to decent at best and should not have been allowed to plunder runs at will…even Strauss seemed (pleasantly) surprised by the way they batted today. South Africa (Steyn, Parnell & Albie Morkel) boast one of the better seam attacks in world cricket but the fact is they badly let the team down conceding two 300+ totals in three games!
