a lucky goal for Real meant this match was a draw and the return match next week will be even more interesting. Real were basically outplayed in this match despite all their stars. Bayern deservedly got their goal, but a mistake by Kahn let in a Roberto Carlos free kick to equalize.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised two-goal hero Edu after the 3-2 Champions League win in Spain - but was concerned by his side’s defending.
“Our second goal was a great individual goal. I thought Edu was looking for a partner but he had to shoot and with his right foot as well,” beamed Wenger.
"We worked very hard but Celta Vigo made us work hard by making it very difficult for us.
“We also gave away two goals at set pieces which is very unusual for us.”
He added: "The turning point of the game came when Alexander Mostovoi hit the bar at the start of the second half.
"Had that gone in, it might have been a very different story.
"They played very well going forward. That gave us more space to be creative and we could have created more in the last 25 minutes.
“Our third goal was a great collective effort.”
Arsenal are now in a strong position to advance to the quarter-finals, but Wenger was reluctant to start celebrating.
“We are in a good position but it is far from over,” he said.
“One of the keys will be the mental approach for the second leg. It is important that we go into the game and try to win it.”

^they have a good team, but somehow they don't have the elegance and the status a real top club has...i think of the likes of Real, Milan, Man U etc

you are damn right - i hate Arsenal with passion - and of course Wenger even more. :D
Damn it. ManU is out of champions league. Porto equalized in 89th minute with the horrible defending from ManU defenders after they did so well throughout the game.
^aiii...that's a big pity for them, and also Ferguson...the championship is virtually gone and now the Champion's league too....it's going to be a difficult remainder of the season for them.
so too for Juventus.....they've lost the title as well
^ Real is the only team left for me to vie for :( maybe chelsea and Ac milan too to some extent. But Hope Arsenal's dream season ends witouht CL trophy
Lets see if they function as well as a team as they do individually, because if you recall the Italian teams, a collection of superb players, just did nto clik as a team.
problem with italian teams is that although they have great stars -especially forwards and attacking midfielders- they play very defensive football, as a result of which a few of them remain on the bench and some mediocre players are put in at the back
for example Juventus, they have great forwards: Del Piero, Trezeguet, Di Vaio, Nedved, Miccoli.....but only 2 or 3 of them can play at one time.
Same for Inter: Vieri, Kallon, Martins, Recoba.....only two can play...and in defense they have to put in some mediocre players........
in the French national team, you'll see the they play 4-4-2 (instead of the Italian 5-3-2 or 3-5-2)......they can afford one extra attacking player.
