You’re looking at this with Real Madrid glasses on. Nani was looking at the ball, not the player. He only saw the player 2 seconds before he hit him and actually tried to pull his leg back as soon as he did see him. Anyone who is neutral (and does not have a Pro-Real bias) would have given a Yellow for that, but certainly not a Red Card.

I did NOT say that a red card should be given. My point was that referee acted as per the rule book. However he should not have done so within the context of the incident as it was not a malicious attempt by Nani. Thats why I called it unfair.
