Champions League 2007-2008

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

they outplayed milan in all aspects of the game in my view but just were unable to score. That dying seconds attack would have wrapped it up but it hit the woodwork.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

It's pretty sad to hear that, since they have had a good season and played some pretty fine football at the CL. AC Milan is one of those lucky teams, which I have never supported. Only at match-ups against German Clubs.
I hope nail Milan on the wall at the second leg.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

^It will be a stiff task but I think they can do it. First goal will be absolutely crucial.

Man U, Liverpool and Barca will advance no problems.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Arsenal lead Milan by 1 goal. Seems like the reigning champions are out

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

2-0

milan out.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Great result for Arsenal, first English team to beat Milan away from home.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

btw this was also the last time we will see Paolo Maldini play a Champion's League match :(

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

One of the greatest defenders the game has seen. He has won all the honous which a footballer can hope for including the World cup with Italy.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

^actually, he never won the WC. Two years ago he already retired from international matches and was not part of the Italian squad in Germany 2006

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Oh yes I remember and thanks for correction.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Real is thrown out by Roma 1-2 at home. What an embarassing result.

they threw capello out, tell me again why?

Chelsea are through comfortably

Milan were thouroughly outplayed by Arsenal last night and that was amazing to watch. If Liverpool can hold out Inter at san siro it will be 4 english teams in the quarter finals.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Nescio, you must be crying. Real is out of the tournament.
Schalke, Fenerbache, AS Roma, Chelsea through to the semis

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

First Milan, and now Real :o

but to be honest, Real didn't play well at all yesterday. Roma deservedly won the match

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Yes true, Real did nothing extraordinary to safe the match. I was disappointed myself. I still believe players like GUTI have to go. They are no more fit enough for teams like Real.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

The only challenge to English clubs will come from Barcelona.

A team which can leave out likes of Thiery Henry out has to be a strong squad.

Real Madrid as is expected will sack their coach and possibly make a move for Jose Mourinio.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Guti leaving Real Madrid? Not even in your dreams!

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Jose Maurinho doesnt 'suit' Real's craving for 'total football'. I actually think he is that brilliant a manager that he can produce it if he has to.

So far its one Italian, one turkish, one german, one apanish and three English teams in quarter finals. If Liverpool can hold out Inter it will be four english teams in quarter finals. tremendous achievement. I am really surprised by Schalke's strong performance this time around but apart from Inter, I dont really see any other team challenging any English team from winning CL this year. I bet everyone would like to avoid Arsenal in this form, even English opponents.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

Arsenal have perhaps ended an era of champions leafue football. A lovely match to watch though the first goal was eminently saveable.

Arsenal have a good chance for a double - Premier League and CL. But I think they may only win the CL. Their clash with Manchester Utd will be one to watch though, could decide the league.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

He is such a waste of a player. I liked him when he was introduced to Real but he never was the big calibre one would have had expected him to be.

Re: Champions League 2007-2008

I wouldnt agree. Real Madrids football has changed over the years. The old Real Madrid with winning almost every championship is no more. I believe Jose is one of those who can bring Madrid back alive at the CL.
