Is it just me or does anyone else feel that women today wear much more makeup than they used to? Like there’s so much emphasis on falseness…false lashes…carving out cheek bones that are not there…slimming down a broader nose, etc etc. It’s kinda scary.

Yeah, it is. But there are women who are not models or celebrities and they wear garish makeup like that to weddings or even just less formal occasions. I don't understand the need to highlight everything. If you're doing a bold lip...go easy on the eyes. If you're doing dramatic eyes...go easy on the lips. I don't think it's flattering to give every feature of your face a bold look. It can easily become draggy.

It depends...it can. Makeup...especially foundation may contain some beneficial emollients like oils and maybe even antioxidants....but it also contains chemicals. If you have acne, then regular use of makeup can make it worse as it clogs your pores. The pulling and tugging and scrubbing that comes with application and removal can lead to wrinkles. Not removing it prior to sleeping is said to age skin. Incorrect application of makeup...such as using wrong colors/formulas can make one look older. And for women who can't leave the home without it..or who wear it daily...when you see them without makeup...it's like yikes. The contrast may be a little less unsettling if they perhaps wore it less often or lesser amounts of it. Makeup does have benefits and it can enhance, but there's a dark side to it as well.
