Re: catering a big party in a banquet venue
It is true that people eat less food when you serve appetizers as well. Depending on your budget you have many choices
Veggie Samosas
Veggie Pakoras
Chicken Pakoras
Seekh Kababs (usually cut into bite size pieces)
Chicken 65
Fried Fish
Bhel Puri
Chaat Station (If you do it yourself its so much cheaper & really stands out)
There are more but for some reason I just can’t think of them now.
I personally am partial to Veggie Samosas, they are cheaper & kids & adults both usually enjoy eating it.
As far as Pizzas are concerned 9-10 pizzas for 50 kids. Call them 2 hours before the event & have them deliver it around the time you plan to serve dinner. This way you won’t have to worry about someone leaving the event & having to pick up pizza & since they will be delivered right at dinner time, you won’t have to fuss over keeping them warm.
Ask your venue if they are open to the idea of you providing them drinks but their staff serving it. Note, since you are providing your own drinks you might be able to bring the price down by 50 cents per person. Some banquets will add the discount, some will not but Its a shot worth taking while booking the banquet.
Use a Costco or Sams club card for the drinks. You will save some money & still have a variety to serve. Or check Jewel, sometimes they have sales on soda cans & they end up being even cheaper than Sams or Costco.
Make sure they have coolers in the banquet to keep your drinks cool.
I have never made Chai for this many people. So I can’t give you any ideas for that.
Let me know if I have answered everything. If you still have any questions feel free to ask.
