I personally think the caste system is so dumb! My family are supposedly "jatt" and will probably won't let me marry outside of the caste system, for no dang reason and that just totally sucks :/

My family does not subscribe to the caste system and we dont marry into families that do either. I ran into one family that was that way and even though they were nice people and we were same caste...it just didnt feel right because we dont place importance on it. We didnt move forward with it.
The reason is simple: education does not only cultivate your mind for a career but its also meant to open up our minds broader horizons...in every way.

My parents are totally slaves of this mentality...I was lucky to meet someone whose father is of same caste as my parents and they still dont know that my husband's mother isnt of same caste...I wonder what they would have done if they knew!!!
Both my parents think that everyone from their caste represent certain values but thats just so rural and outdated in 2010 in urban societies!!!!!
