70,000 rps is excessive for 3 weeks. Five months ago, it cost us 1600 rps a day, for car rental, which included the driver fees in Karachi. This was a 2004/2005 Honda Civic with A/C (I say this because the previous time we went the first car we rented did not have A/C and you will die without it!). The only extra cost was gas - but even with the added expense of gas - there is no way it should cost you 70,000 rps. It may be better to go to a private but reliable company, rather than Hertz or any other North American/European car rental company. Also, some of the vehicles in Pakistan are equipped with CNG - which is a fuel alternative and is cheaper than gasoline - if you get one of these cars it might bring your costs down a bit.
Unfortunately, I don't know any companies in Lahore/Islamabad - find out from family and friends who live there about reliable and trustworthy companies. It's really important that the driver of the car is known to the family or is an employee of a vetted company if you're there for a wedding and shopping as you'll likely be carrying money and jewelry on you.

Very true Sehrysh , thats my other worry, Pakistan mein majority are lotaray, and I know from our conversations they will know immediately we are from abroad and so we will have security issues ...
so yeah we will be carefully looking at the driver we get ... lets see .. thanks for your help though ....

I rented a car for five days in Islamabad recently with a company and it was Rs. 1600 per day with driver.
it was natural gas driven and the driver was middle aged excellent one. If you need further help let me know.

Driver name was Abdul Rahman and from Skardu Northern Areas.

How does the driver's service thing work for longer period?? Did he stay with you all the time?? ... like around your house or was on call??
