I thinks some of us lose all objectivity and sanity (or become defensive at best )when talking about Islam. One should make a clear distinction between such narrow-minded backward-thinking mullahs and true Islamic scholars like Yusuf Estes. What these pro-taliban mullahs did was not only wrong but evil. Using women and children as pawns is the lowest form of self-defence. And did anyone see their women in those burqas with barely their eyes showing (Goodnews do you want to be like them)? No where in Islam it says that you have to wear a veil and cover yourself like this (and look like complete jokers. I esp. hate the shuttle-cock burqas. Why can't you just cover your head with a shawl etc.). All Islam says is that your dress should be decent and preferably modest at all times. It's not what you wear (sari, shalwar, jeans, skirt) but how you wear it that's important. Don't just look at the fact that these people prayed 5 times a day etc. Look at the methods they used to make their point. There is no place for militancy in Islam. Such mullahs make a mockery of noble acts like jehad and shahadat. I don't approve of everything Musharraf is doing but I believe he took the right action here.

So how are you watching bollywood films if you are with these mullahs? If these mullahs came to power one day there would be no entertainment in Pakistan. There’s hardly any at the moment. They would ban everything TV, DVD, satellite, cable and even most sports incl. cricket. They would ban men from playing hockey in shorts. They will make women doctors and teachers sit at home. Is that what you want? Yes there is a concept of hijaab in Islam but that does not mean one HAS to wear a veil. You can look quite decent in a shalwar kurta and shawl etc. Can you show me one aaya or hadees that says wearing a veil (with barely your eyes showing) is necessary? Listen, when I read your Initial reply In this thread I was appalled to read you calling all Pakistanis bayghairats. Don't you think that's blowing It out of proportion? So I replied that as you mentioned all Pakistanis then you are Including yourself In this list also. At the end of the day whether you have a American passport, British Passport, French, German etc you still can't eliminate your origin.
