Correct. Muslims were not commanded to start paying Zakat either from day one. It started out as Charity giving according to your means in the early stages in Makkah. Character is not shaped at once but gradually. Just like we are not born adults but we grow up.

Doesn't work that way. The community was not ready for the next step at the time of prior revelation. The command for Jihad is a good example of this...

of course it is, just about everytime prayer is mentioned zakaat is mentioned right with it
this wording occurs so many times in the Quran "iqamat us salaat wa atuz zakaah"

i think the following might be helpful to you
in some other places there's mention of obligatory sadaqah, that refers to zakaat as well
and mention of sadaqah just refers to regular charity

of course this opinion is justified, Muslims used to drink and gamble while they accepted Islam it is only afterwards when the command to make it haraam was given that they stopped

Aisha radhiAllahuanha said (and I am paraphrasing) that if the Ayaat for halal and haram were revealed first (ie. no adultery, no alcohol, no gambling, etc.) then no one would have accepted it, but rather the first Ayaat revealed were explaining Paradise and Hellfire and then afterwards these rulings were revealed.
It is also said that when the command for alcohol being forbidden was revealed, some muslims had alcohol in their hand, others had it in their mouths, and others had drank already and when they heard it they threw away the cups, they rinsed their mouths, and some induced vomiting.

Theory of Abrogation
002.106 None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that God Hath power overall things?

They are two practical examples I can give.
Initially the converts to Islam, were asked to prostrate to Masjid al Aqsa, the reason was the Kabah had idols in it. But it is a gradual process for a convert to Islam as these pagan practices were embedded in there heart. When the disease of idol worship, was cleared then Allaah commanded in the Quran, prays towards the Kabah.
In the mean time Prophet may peace and blessings of Allaah be upon, and it isa reported hadith that he did not allow the Sahabas to go to any grave, as they were converts to Islam.
Once pleased and by the will of Allaah, Prophet may peace and blessingof Allaah be upon, asked them to visit the Grave with condition to remember life after death thats the next life with dua.

Alcohol
Alcohol was initially not prohibited but it was a gradual process and the commandments for Alcohol came in 3 stages.
I know the second stage when Allaah commanded, consume Alcohol but not during the time of Salah. This meant consumption of Alcohol was only during the night.
The last stage it was completely prohibited.
Now practically the Arabs used to consume Alcohol similarly to fish in water.
As you can see in todays world, that de-addiction camps follow a procedure and its a gradual process.
From the above two theories, it is proven the this Ayats were written in the Quran, that meant there was no amendment, as it also describes the events at that particular time.

Let me quote you other example,
Surah Al-Taubah, is the wahid Surah in the Quran which does not start with Bismillaah Irahaman niraheem.
The chain of narrator till Sahabas radiallaahuanhom, when asked the Kitab e wahi,the ones who wrote Quran and other Companions the consensus was when Prophet may peace and blessings of Allaah recited this Surah, without Bismillaah, this goes on to further show the meticulous nature in which Quran, is come to us over the years.

Salaam all... Just a question i have... We claim that the miracle of the Quran is that it is not possible that it could be written by man...it is linguistically perfect etc...Non Muslims deny this fact so any help in understanding what makes the Quran a miracle would be helpful...

But even based on this i have a question...The Quran itself was collated by Uthman and his subjects...How can one prove that there are no verses missing...or that none have been added to suit the political reality at the time...

Im not trying to be difficult...Just asking for clarity...so any help would be much appreciated...

just grab a muslims from south america...then another muslims from north america and another muslism from africa and another muslim from europe and another muslim from Asia...and ask them to recite one particular Surah and I gaurantee you they will recite that surah in a same way and also if one makes a mistake..the another one will correct him!! That is the biggest proof of all and the miracle on the face of this earth!!
