Read under ‘Possible deal with the Musharraf Government’
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benazir_Bhutto
‘The National Reconciliation Ordinance, gave amnesty to Bhutto and other political leaders—except exiled former premier Nawaz Sharif—in all court cases against them, including all corruption charges. The Ordinance came a day before Musharraf faced the crucial presidential poll. Both Bhutto’s opposition party, the PPP, and the ruling PMLQ, were involved in negotiations beforehand about the deal’
So it was selective indemnity and not fair game at all. If anything Nawaz should have been the one to hold a grudge against Mush.
I even heard from someone that some officer (Brig. Satti I think his name was) slapped Nawaz in jail when he refused to sign some documents and give in to the regime’s certain demands. However bad Nawaz was, is this how one should behave with a deposed (elected) Prime Minister (and one elected by 2/3 majority), your ex-boss for god’s sake? It’s bad enough that you hand-cuffed him and frightened him with some say snakes, scorpions etc under his bed. But atleast show some humanity, show some dignity and respect to the poor guy. And when Nawaz returned home the first time and was refused entry by Mush, he was given a tooti phooti bus by the authorities… becharay Nawaz kee aankhon mein aansoo aa gaye k kahan ek din mein iss mulk ka Wazir-e-Azam tha aur kahan yeh naainsaafi aur budsulooki. Hate to say this but Mush mein kameena pun bohat tha. So in a way Mush got what he deserved in the end.
