Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
This is the main difference. Here in Singapore one would be fully paid during this 3 years. Long hours are common here as well. But one must understand those big 4 has all blue chip accounts and they need to meet regulatory dead lines.
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
Clearly I am a resident of the wrong place lol.
The thing is that still students are coming into accountancy with a mind set that they will be printing money within two three years. When you go to the ACCA/CA tuition providers, they are marketing themselves as if its the best field to be in. I was told how I will start earning when I will complete the first nine exams and by the end of ACCA, I'll be in demand lol. And I am not talking of like four five years ago, I started it in August 2008 - not that long ago.
@NomiCA: Yeah, you are right that one should start off with articleship. But doing CA is not my ultimate plan. Will the big four firms require us to register for CA? The papers they have reduced for CA is a major problem now, there is a big chance that I might have to appear for five exams for module B,C and D and eight exams of Module E and F. Oh well, pehlay articleship toh mil jaye lol then will think about all this.
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
You are right aishah......when i started.....and even till the mid of my articles.......people did actually get good jobs and it was unthinkable then that things would go this way.......but it has.....and due to the massive influx of ACCA students the market is crowded like hell...
are u affiliate or not?? because if u are then its possible to get into big firms without reference.......and u may still get exemption for CA inter....
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
Well, I am awaiting the result of the final two exams. Just praying that I don’t get a fail, especially at such a critical moment.
Hmm, you think it is possible to get in without referencing? They recruit like 15 students and so each session. Thats such a little number! Btw, how are the interviews? I have been really freaked out when I heard people telling that they beat the crap out of you by bombarding technical questions etc lol
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
sometimes luck does work......so you can't just give up.....you gotta try....who knows it may be ur lucky day :D
nowadays due to growing number of students...and poor financial position of firms....recruitment is at all time low.........so the entry criteria has become very tough......... they will take written tests.....and then two interviews usually......and yes they do bombard with technical questions..........so u have to be good at your game to stand a chance without a reference :D
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
Haha, oh boy. I am only good when it comes to writing in the exam hall. Well, will just pray that I dont break down into tears infront of them and start cursing them for being rude :D. Well, you must be a genius for getting past through them
Accountancy - not my thing! What was I thinking when i stepped into it
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
yea...the interview does cause u to ^%%$ in ur pants.....but if u get even half the questions right.......but stay confident and dont buckle under pressure..you are good to go.........they are basically stress testing you.....so even if u get questions wrong....its more about how u handle the situation rather than technical accuracy...:D
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
Eh well in my case it will be zero percent accuracy and a lot of fidgeting along with freaking out. They reallyy need to be in need of employees to take me :P
Chalo dekhtay hain! Btw, your bhanja is really cute. :) MashAllah!
Re: CA/ Accountants Job market situation in Middle East
Thanks for bhaanja
Don’t freak out yet…everyone is like you there…i remember i was so freaked out…didn’t answer half my questions correct…but still got in…u can’t stop trying because u fear failure…like give it a try at least…if it doesn’t work out…let it be…and if it does…its cool
