Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
I totally agree with the article, I lived in the UAE for 5yrs...and worked at one of the most glamorous places in the UAE...and I know what goes on in that country...how they treat ppl, specially ppl who don't have a USA,UK or European passport.
I know about the prostitution, it is soooooo bad that a normal girl like me could not take a walk down the corniche without being asked to get into their flashy cars....or being stalked...or being looked at from top to bottom coz they have money to throw around and we ACTUALLY work!!!
The worst are the younger generation that is coming up, who have no respect at all for anyone, who just loves to do baap ke paison pe aish!! That is not just Dubai...that is UAE for you!
Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
^^ let me call some Pro Dubai people in this thread :D
Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
Yeah..pls..doooo...coz I have actually talked personally to the ppl who build Dubai....the constructions workers....they have the worst of it more than anyone else living in that country....I feel sooooooo bad for them...coz they get paid about AED600-900...to build that place...they share a tiny room with 6ppl all having bunk beds...no wonder they all love to sit outside whenever they get a chance and stare at all the women walking around......coz honestly...what else can they do in a country where the prices are never right for the salaries that are paid to the ppl who have actually built and done the dirty work in that country!!
Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
I know that country in more depth what you just quoted. Dont want to talk about HUMAN rights.. as there are NO rights for humans but for Camels and Horses.
Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
U are soooo right about that :hinna:
Nice article :k:
Also great writing style by mr George ![]()
^ there's always 2 sides to a coin.
This is not something saudi-dislikers would like to hear but the time me and my family spent in KSA was truly the most beautiful time of our lives and we would go back any day. I intend to, Inshallah.
All the politics can rest aside, all i know is that KSA is one of the few countries that shows respect for Azaan and thats all I need to know.
I know this is about Dubai, but having spent most of my childhood in Riyadh, it must be the most soul less place on the planet. No culture, no history, no heritage, no system of public libraries, no national theater or opera, nothing but badly built buildings, and some of the worst slums in the middle east (Al-Madhar, Manfooha and Shumaysi).
And there were huge issues of labour exploitation in Saudi them.
Thats theproblem with Gulf, what were essentially primitive tribal nomadic societies have had a huge influx of wealth, and don't know what to do with.
Dubai is perhaps the worst example of excess on the plannet.
agree with the dude.
i've always called this place schizophrenic. or if you will, this place has multiple personalities.
the malls are getting huge, and people are flocking to it. but there is not a single decent library here. i am frustrated when i want to study because i don't know where to go to study. go to starbucks? how is that a great study place. H&M will be a huge ass store, but a bookstore would be a tiny khoka, if it's present. money's spent on making building pretty, but there isn't any real money spent on connecting the different emirates. the abaya's there, but it's like just another fashion accessory. most of the time i see people of other nationalities heading to the masjid, but hardly ever locals.
Are there no public libraries at all in Dubai.
Re: But at least we are not Dubai..
Look what he has to say about Dubai!
Good things for the KSA but not so good for Dubai!
