- Speaking almost sadly, he tells of half a dozen nearly identical personal exchanges with President George W. Bush. Each time the president, with obvious sincerity, asks the same question: “Do you know, Charlie, why we’re hated so much?” After Rangel confesses, “I really don’t know, Mr. President,” Mr. Bush answers his own question: “Because they’re evil, Charlie. Because they’re evil.” * link
I'm not even going to bother with a lengthy response. I have already stated numerous times what Bush really is about and how his religious beliefs guide him to make such decisions.
Has Bush ever made sense or told the truth before?

He STILL does not get it. How sad to reduce it to a reductionist level where the "good guys" are positioned directly opposite the "bad guys", where everything is strictly black or white, no shades of grey. That he actually subscribes to this kindergarten level way of thinking is pretty sad.

Me thinks this little quote we are hanging onto so firmly as representative of the whole of GWB's outlook has a bit of a kindergarteney, reductionist feel as well, no?
^ hehe..so true. The term “reductionist” is a wonkish term at best. Now you are going to ask..what does “wonk” mean? ![]()
I think it means to pound the top of someones head with a large foam-rubber mallet until you knock some sense into them.
Every one is evil, except the US, Israel and UK. Now every one rest easy and let us clean up the world off the "evil doers".
Storch, let’s look at the term “reductionist-derived form reductionism”
re·duc·tion·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-dksh-nzm)
n.
An attempt or tendency to explain a complex set of facts, entities, phenomena, or structures by another, simpler set: “For the last 400 years science has advanced by reductionism… The idea is that you could understand the world, all of nature, by examining smaller and smaller pieces of it. When assembled, the small pieces would explain the whole” (John Holland).
How that applies to Bush foreign policy is beyond me. Maybe Canada has a different meaning,eh!! Something with a more negative connotation, maybe.
in pure black and white perhaps?

Me thinks that GWB's outlook and behaviour in general, when approaching conflicts around the world, seems to reinforce my earlier comments. No?
Bush-hatred is just getting too easy. The foundation or "root causes" if you will of the conflicts if Afghanistan and Iraq are numerous and historical and do not lie solely with GWB or the current administration.
So if "Renegade American Cowboy" is the image people need to divert honest analysis of the real and historical context of the mess we're now in, well I guess that's what we have to live with.
3 years of an administration has turned the world topsy turvy. It's easy and fun for many to assume this, but alas the world is a tad more complex.

It must be a crusade?
Once again Bush was auditioning for Bonanza and Sesame Street in one take!
Matsui
Isn't wonk the plural of wonker?
