Bulhey Shah' blasphemy : Contempt of God or ungodly business

Re: Bulhey Shah’ blasphemy : Contempt of God or ungodly business

^ spot on. He was being sarcastic there

You need to read more of his poetry. He is actually again that godly business which is sad reality of sub-contient culture. Molivi and pundits have monopoly and firm grip on religion, and people mostly cant talk to God one-on-one.
He preached direct relationship between God and man, with out any interferance.

Again he speaks another evil of the society, the caste system. If You watch famous and controversial new Pakistani movie “Khuda ke leye” there is a Bulhey Shah’s Kalam sung in a very catchy tune.

You might not be able to understand the meaing of these few verses even if you know punjabi, because you need to know the background in order to understand.

Actually Bulhey Shah was a ‘syed’ (belonged to lineage of prophet Muhammad pbuh) He got religious education as a child then he moved to a city Kasur where he found a learned man ‘Shah Inayat’ and Bulhey Shah found him a man of wisdom and spritual flair… He became his student. Shah Inayat belonged to Arian race ( called Arayeen) and was a farmer by ocupation. Although it was not considered an inferior race as there is no caste system in muslim where anyone is considered inferior or superior, but ‘Syed’ was an exception due to its affiliation with prophet of Islam common muslims used to respect them and consider them revered.

Family and acquaitance of Bulhey Shah objected on his decision of making a Non-syed his spritual teacher (murshad ) …The verse are his rebuttal in this case.

Hopefully you can understand the meaning of these verses, with less difficulty
