India attracts massive amounts of charity, I’m not sure that’s anything for a poor country, albeit rising very fast, to balk at. It’s a good thing. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is very smart about how and where they put their money. The Gates foundation only donates where they can make a noticeable and lasting impact. They’re making an impact in India, as are other charities.
India also has a large network of charitable organizations that are able to quickly and effectively put any money they receive to good use. Unlike the Indian government, the charities aren’t corrupt, bloated, and show how and where their donated money is being dispensed. India’s charity sector is quite a shining example of Indian ingenuity, in both collecting money and distributing services.
I don’t think Indians or Pakistanis are should in anyway disparage charitable giving. Afterall, Pakistan is still in need of relief for the victims the recent floods.
