British Airways suspends all its flights to Pakistan.

Re: British Airways suspends all its flights to Pakistan.

can anyone confirm how long the British Embassy Visa section will be closed for approximately?

I know all VAC application centres are closed.

The list is longer than you expect, As far as direct is concerned than only Air Blue and PIA or may be another one which I don't know.

else,,,,, Etihad,Emirates,Qatar Airways ,Kuwait Airways ,Gulf Air, Saudia Airlines. Apart from Kuwait Airways cause I dont have experience with that Airline. All have good connections to Pakistan through there main hubs.

Air Blue doesn't fly direct to Pakistan. They stop in Trabzon, Turkey for refuelling. Singapore Airlines fly to Pakistan also.

I'd need something direct because Im going to be flying from the US... I used to be an avid PIA flyer, but over the last few years I've just about it had it with them and was forced to use the American Airlines/British Airways route and loved it.

Spock,

Have they offered you a full refund yet? They said that they will find us alternative flights for the London to ISB leg of our trip, but we wanted something direct. We asked for a full refund but they aren't giving it as of yet - still "exploring" alternative flight arrangements for us. I don't know how on earth they are going to find a flight for all 8 of us.

From where in US?????

Most middle eastern airlines (other than Gulf) fly directly from NY/NJ/Houston till Abu dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai and Doha and then you can take, Peshawar, ISB, LHE and KHI.

I came on etihad ten days back from Abu Dhabi-JFK . It surely was very nice.....

For our friends from the West Coast: Emirates has recently started LA-Dubai and is expected to start SFO-Dubai in the next few weeks.

I have to stop over at London to meet someone. Also, I want to avoid middle eastern countries. This one time I had a long stay at Riyadh and the airport stuff was extremely rude and hardly anything was working over there.

Not yet, Im going to call them soon, my flight is pretty far away. Another problem is, I didnt buy it from BA, I bought it from United.

Not all Middle Eastern airports are alike my friend. Most of the staff in Middle Eastern airports are rubbish, especially in Bahrain and Jeddah.

But there are very good airports like Dubai as well.

After reading more about the mohammad asif debacle, and some topics associated with it, I am not convinced. I mean what if there was 0.002grams of some banned substance on my shoe?

Re: British Airways suspends all its flights to Pakistan.

^---- I agree, it's a scary thought that crosses my mind too. What if someone else had put it in my backpack from behind. If they catch it, your head gets chopped off....no questions asked. It's better to avoid Saudi Arabia, unless absolutely necessary.

I've stayed overnight at Riyadh airport on my way to Karachi from US. The security takes away your passport and there isn't much you can say to them. They're all a bunch of arrogant people.

However, as Umer mentioned...places like Dubai would be really good to stop over on the way...infact, I'd want to plan it that way and spend some time visiting places. I've heard they give you visit visa right at the airport. Is that right?

some of the rules for UAE immigration have changed recently, make sure you do proper ground work for VISA before flying through UAE ( Dubai/Abudhabi).

Depends on your nationality. I'm assuming that you have a UK passport in which case you would get a 30-day visa stamped into the passport on arrival in Dubai. And they don't charge anything for that either.
