Re: Bring Your Own Bag
First of all, though a worthy topic, I don't see how it fits in a political forum. Its probably mis-posted here and should be moved to an appropriate Lifestyle forum.
Secondly, I can see the reasoning behind bringing your own bag. But for the large majority, that won't or don't, there is no clear winner between paper and plastic. Perhaps the various stats that are dumped on the reader need to be put in the proper context and recommendation made. Just FYI, some cities (including San Francisco) have taken the initiative to ban plastic bags from all chain stores. I am guessing they have taken into account the relative merits and demerits of paper and plastic and decided that plastic is the worse culprit and paper is the preferred alternative.
