on mars it means a hot bride in a shower
and on venus it means showering the bride with expensive gifts.

ok i got the point "goray" people. since when its part of our desi weddings? surely friends do give gifts to bride on desi one too.

Well, thanks everyone for all suggestions! Now I have lots of gift ideas for showers to come :) Since the bride is still pretty young, EVERYONE got her gifts related to things she(herself) could use. Yes, there was A LOT of VS. I got her stuff from Sephora, stuff I would have wanted myself..hehe.
I guess it depends on the person, you kind of have to know whether or not they would like the practical presents. I think some people think that that's what the wedding presents are for, either cash/gift cards to buy things for their new home together. A lot of people these days don't even bother with boxed gifts(especially for desi weddings).
