yup most ppl gave the cards and money to my mum 2 and she had a cute gift bag she was carrying around and placed them in there…as for purses, it depends where u buy ur dress from as my purse made for my dresses and mehndi oufit were lovely, yet they werent used much by me but were gr8 for detailed shots for my wedding album!
i actually forgot my mehendi purse at home and left my wedding purse on the table all night long. d'oh! but they were both made with the same material/kaam as my clothes and they were pretty cute.
i hate the purses that come with the dress they are so ugly. when my sister got engaged she bought a clutch from here (usa) and took it back to pakistan. i think you use the bag to put the money in that people give rather than holding the money in your hand because it can fall. by the way the bouquet sounds really cute and my sister is going to do the same on her wedding.
i agree i hate the ones that are made to match the dress entirely (like out of the same exact fabric). i also got clutches made bec. you can use them later, they are not POUCHES they are actual clutches which look so much more elegant. to be honest, i was not even going to use a pouch until nomi told me a clutch would look really nice. i refuse those nasty pouches. lol
i dont think its necessary but it really completes the look and its so nice to have some lipgloss and tissue in there, just in case!
A cheap looking pouch OR clutch will look bad but regardless of whether it's matchy matchy with your dress or a designer clutch, as long as it looks good with your dress, thats ALL that matters. for example, I don't remember SGC's but silsila's matching pouch is STUNNING! The embroidery is gorgeous and it goes so well with the outfit. As for the clutches, they should really match your outfit and not look tacky or 'not going with the look' type because I have seen many here on the forums that look just plain ugly. I had both on my wedding day and I opted for the pouch at the last minute because with the flowers and all, it was something that blended it more and gave a better look. For the reception I carried a clutch only because it went with that outfit better. Bottom line is, it all depends on what kind of pouches and clutches you get made with your dress, it should look good with the overall look of the bride.
ita shay im talking about the one that looks literally like the exact material of the outfit with no DESIGN to it it looks like thaan u know. especially if the brides top and bottom are exactly the same. i loved silsilas it was STUNNING!!!!!

yup shay i agree with you, its not about pouch, purse, clutch its about how it goes overall with ur outfit and the look u are trying to achieve. i hardly used my pouch and little bag but my photographer said it was great for detailed shots. i did go to a wedding and the girl had the most amazing lengha, but she had bought a seperate purse to go with it and it looked awful! But each to their own! I loved mine! I agree that if ur carrying a bouqet the purse that is made with the lengha looks miles better as it blends, me did the same!
yes. but it should blend into the outfit, not be totally separate. whether it's something that matches the dress u already have or it came iwht it or whatever.
My barat dress didn't have its own pouch but the one my dad got matched really well....even though it was/is useless.
Valima dress had its own pouch.....................
I got one purse (valima) and 2 pouches (nikah and wedding). I liked both looks, infact the pouches better as they go well with the eatern look of the lehnga etc and look kind of old world. the matching kaam ones do blend in well and look great. I do think one should carry a purse just in case.
I was looking around for clutches...but since my dress and jewellery is uber traditional....i HAVE to carry a pouch... :-) have not come up with a design just yet....we shall see...pouches look very elegant...in a traditional way....
i think clutches look good with formal wear.....
why is it neccesary for a bride to hold a purse? there's always an elder there to collect the salamee, a sister or cousin to do the makeup touches, she doesnt need to do anything but to look pretty, so hold some pretty roses or something.
