^as far as I know, Bunto Kazmi wasn't the start of the family business, it started with her mother-in-law (Mrs. Sughra Kazmi) and Bunto married into the family. Dr. Haroon is the nephew of Mrs. Kazmi, so he was directly related. Its just that Bunto is more well known for it, I guess? IMHO, Dr. Haroon has more variety and is also more reasonable, but then again, he's doing my bridal, so.... :D
thanks for putting these up, ziggy!!!
She wasn't the start of it but she definitely made it all so popular. Her mil is still involved in bridals with her and so is Bunto's daughter Fizza, from what she told me, they all work together. Dr. Haroon's work is nice as well but his bridals lack that x factor that I have seen in Bunto's work. I find their styles to be quite different in so many ways. Bunto's fabrics and kaam quality are way more superior and intricate, especially the fancy fabrics which she imports from France, and the stunning jamavar she uses.
Initially, I didn't find BK's bridals to be omg amazing either but that's because I had only seen a few around here, typical farshis with long shirts/sleeves. When she showed me more of her work, I was in awe. Infact, I recently saw a bridal by her that is THE most beautiful one I have ever seen in my life.. it's nothing like her usual farshi, long shirt or even long sleeves- it's something SO different and absolutely stunning.
his prices are low-er, but not low. I heard that about a year or two ago, he was considerably cheaper (around 1 lakh), but his starting price now is 2 lakhs and Bunto’s starting price (what I’ve heard anyways) is 3 lakhs.
^I thought Fizza was her daughter in law?
its totally a matter of taste, i guess. some people might think Haroon’s dresses lack that x factor because the brides change around the original Bunto style …and then again, it depends on whether you really want that typical Bunto outfit. His doesnt stray too far from that, but he uses different fabrics (part of mine is french net)
at the same time, I think you could very easily get a Bunto replicate from him and not many would be able to tell. For the longest time, I thought this was a Bunto but its from Haroon (and i used to pride myself in how easily i could tell apart a Bunto jora)
also, Bunto follows a particular formula that works for her…no short or cap sleeves, round galas, etc and the people who go to her want that typical style (i think someone else said this in another thread too?) a lot of his dresses do things that Bunto wouldn’t ever do, like V-necks, shorter sleeves and printed banarsi… (see this thread for examples http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/323485-designer-dr-haroon-karachi-any-contact-number.html) stuff that i dont think looks good. but if you stick to very traditional styles, his outfits look great.

fizza is her daughter, they are family friends of my mil's. i don't think her daughter in law is part of the business yet.
what you mentioned above, bunto does all of that, IF the bride asks for it. like the stunning bridal i mentioned was not a farshi or long sleeves or a round gala.
she's popular for her long shirts and farshis but if you ask her to make you something different, she will make it for you. i heard for the longest time that she's snobby, doesn't listen, does her own thing, doesn't like bride's inputs, etc etc, but honestly, she's the sweetest lady ever who is VERY open to your ideas and what you want. i have seen sleeveless bridals by her, i have seen off the shoulder ones, and i have seen deep V's, as well as many different designs. i think she keeps the best ones well hidden ;-) haha.
^ohh ok, sorry, I probably just heard the wrong thing then (concerning Fizza I mean). I've heard she's a sweetheart as well and that she calls her bride beti and stuff....but wow, I've never seen anything like what you're describing from her. i wish i could see those in person!! hahaha yeah I bet they're well-hidden and well-priced too ;) are you a bunto bride as well?
yeah i liked the chinyere ones too. theyre a bit too overpriced though!
@ ziggy, im assuming dr haroon is heavily inspired by bunto. doesnt this outfit remind you of the brown and turquoise bunto one from a couple of weeks ago?
you're so right - I didn't see that at the time. The colours of that outfit were really so beautiful...
