Hi girls, im gettig married in a year and i was just wondering what the average price of a lengha was in lahore. Not too heavy or light just medium? or would it be more better to get it made from scratch. i really wanted the top to be quite plain with a bit of work and the top to be long and the border to be quite heavy and the lengha to have work on it at teh bottom and the duppata to have work on the border. I need the top part quite plain as ive got a paanch lara so i would prefer it plain otherwise it would just look abit too much.

I just came back from Pak and got my wedding dress. Before i went i already had my mind set on getting a dress made from scratch but had no clue of any design or material i was going to use. (btw i went there for only 2 1/2 weeks) I had very limited time to make a decision and do wut i wanted to do fast. the first 4 days all i did was shop around to see wut style lenga i wanted and I honestly thought i was screwed bc i had no time and i was not liking wut i was seeing. I think i went to every possible bridal shop in pakistan and i was not too happy.
On the 4th day I went to this boutique in Anarkali and just fell in love with this lenga and asked the ppl in the shop if they can have it made in a specific color within a week and suprisingly they agreed and got my lenga made for 45,000 rs (after barganing of course orignal price was 58,000 rs) where i got to choose my own fabric color and it came out beautiful. The day i went to pick up my lenga my mom and i found out that the guy who designed my lenga (who was there at the shop the 1st time we went) works for GEO the tv channel and is usually a guest deigner for the show "saj daj"
I bought all my wedding suits from that boutique and the prices were amazing...my advice to you would be to shop around for a wedding dress 1st and if you dont like anything then think of getting it made from scratch...in a way i got mine made from scratch but i chose the design and fabric from one that was already made at the store.
I found it way easier to literally see and feel the one that was in front of me and have the changes made to it accordingly.
I'm not sure if you want a desiner lenga but i think regular boutiques do such a decent job on bridal lengas and are so much more appreciative and give you respect as a customer whereas the designers kinda dont care wut you want and are so disrespectful (well to the ones i went to were).
I think if you are really picky you really should shop around before making a final decision u will be so much happier.

i got my lenga and like 45 suits all ready on the day we told them i got them the night before i was leaving and i was so happy bc everything was done the way i told them. I was suppose to get married in September of this year and thats y rushed there to get a dress bc i didnt want to go in the summer but now it seems like it'll be delayed due to my soon to be MIL's knee problem she's having surgery and wont be able to go to Pakistan for the shopping before November so I think it will now be in March 2010

Awww thanks!! InshAllah everything will go well....well so far ive been rocking my dress at home everyday and get yelled at by my mom its just so tempting!!! I'm going to save them for my marriage they wont be outdated or anything all of them are just really fancy shalwar kamise suits and can be worn whenever. I purposely didnt get the shirts too short bc i knidda found out whie i was ther that long kamises were coming back in style so i kept it a reasonable length not too long and not too short so that will work plus i can always alter shirts if they need to become shorter

Just out of curiousity, please no one should get offended by this in anyway. Do girls who wear sleeveless or wide backs or low necks feel comfortable in front of their in laws or parents? I mean i’d be terrified and would not feel comfortable at all nor would I be able to pull anything off like this. Most importantly i think my fiance would kill me if i did wear anything like that he’s really strict in tht manner the most i can probably do is wear half sleeves and even then he somethimes feels uncomfortable with me wearing anyhting like that.
