BRIDAL PICS.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

I think so...

I love the haveli idea for the mehndi...it looks like it turned out beautifully.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

i just love the saree.... i wish i knew where she got it from!!

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

The New York Times featured a Pakistani wedding in Miami this week…you can read the story here:

Is it just me, or do nikkah ceremonies look super awkward and silly when you try to westernize them completely and have the bride and groom march down to the maulvi’s ‘alter’?

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

that pink sari is just gorgeous!

that pic of the bridesmaids, the one in the forefront is SO not happy :cb:

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

^agreed pink sari looks amazing nd as for the bridesmaid hehehe

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

question: why do they get a page length article dedicated to their wedding? they most certainly are not the first couple who are children of migrants and get wed in the west.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

^ its part of their weddings and celebrations section... which i read on and off :) so they always showcase one wedding out of all of the ones posted. this is the first south asian one that i've seen so i guess they've written it up. usually its mostly jewish couples.

edited to say: what a dumb, horribly written article!!! yeesh. you'd think they would have only mentioned the positive aspect of their relationship/culture so the majority of readers wouldn't think pakistani's are weird.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

oh sara, hon, it was just a thought  i still love my wedding dress… i think its the prettiest thing i’ll ever own…and its extra-special because of the memories too. i’m sure you feel super special about your dress too, no matter how many improvements you can think of making to it! hugs

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

beautiful! she wears the sari so gracefully

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

Oh, every time i see it in person, i just fall in love with it all over again  but then i think of alll the possibilities.. but i kinda do that with everything. so whatever lol

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

i think its cute if they walk down the aisle, but maybe they could sit down on either side of the qazi or something? i always envision nikah's being seated affairs for some reason :p

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

i would like my nikkah to be traditional :)

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

Can i also see them??

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

exactly @ last para. i mean i get that ppl write stories for weddings and stuff but what's told in the article is just so dumb!

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

AS first-generation Pakistani-Americans, Hashim Mian and Sabeen Ali moved easily between the cultures. Both read the Koran and visited relatives in Karachi and conversed in Urdu at home. They also drank beer, liked to party and fell in love without their parents knowing about it.

^sounds like the writer was making fun of the pakistani muslim culture.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

^ Nah... more like... ah... nvm, its just pathetic.

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

^yes it does sound like the writer's rediculing

Re: BRIDAL PICS.

its not so much the writing tha tbothers me as much as the content. :(
