I have seen every bride in our family wear a sehra at the time of rukhsati.. even if the weight of that damn thing is more than the bride herself. Poor her is not only attempting to manage her gharara, loads of gold while crying and hugging family members, but also trying to juggle the sehra. One of my aunts almost fainted because she was sad and crying, and on top of that, the sehra was tied so hard around her head that it was giving her major headaches. Even a chaddar or a big shawl can be used to cover the bride if that’s what the intention is.
