If you believe the best of the people lived were the Sahabah, then the tabi’een and then the taba tab’een then you will not conclude this and the reason why I used that example is because of society today being more like that time rather than the time after it … We are not talking about what is highest in a society what we are dealing with here is how we should view breast feeding in public as a phenomenon and quite simply it happens to be quite normal even today in areas that were not affected by the sexual revolution.
You may be right … But the yard stick that I am using is about tolerance and personal adjustments … Many women do not feel comfortable feeding in public, but many do … Even from very Muslim cultures … So we need to explain what has happened through time and what is happening today … Why we are becoming people who like to finger wag others? I think earlier Muslims must have been far more lenient on the public but we seem to be so strict on each other. This is not a result of a gradual hukum … This is a type of oppression.
