Breaking News: Plane crashes in Islamabad

A number of families including a newly-married couple of Karachi became the victim of the ill-fated plane that crashed at Margalla Hills, Islamabad. Relatives of the passengers were unable to get any satisfactory answer at the Karachi Airport as soon as they got information about the mayhem.

The airport authorities did not help them. The relatives of the victims rushed to the capital on their own. Imran Khan, brother of Rizwan Khan who died along with four member of his family, told TheNation that airport authorities had not provided travelling facility to the families of victims.


Grief-stricken grandfather Abdul Ghani, 70, holds photographs of his son and his family, all of whom died in the crash.

The ill-fated family of Rizwan Ghani Khan, a resident of Waseem Bagh, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Area, left Karachi to enjoy the last days of their children’s vacation in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Airblue has said that the crashed plane was fit by all means and it had no technical fault. The GM Airblue while talking to journalists in Karachi added that emergency cells had been established in Karachi and Islamabad. “The family members of the deceased passengers will be taken to Islamabad and they will be accommodated there as well,” he added.

Similarly, four members of a family of FIA Sub-Inspector Rehmatullah Dhonki who had left for Islamabad to enjoy the vacations died in tragic incident. Uncle of the deceased family said that the family resides in Shreen Jinnah Colony and had gone to the Islamabad on vacation and their father had scheduled to join the family within two days.

Mona Dhomki, wife of Rehamatullah, her daughter Mehreen Dhomki, Afshan Dhomki and son Amir Dhomki were among the victims.

It is pertinent to mention here that both the airhostess who died in the incident belonged to Karachi. Shazia Abdul Razaq, a resident of Naveed Bungalows, Gulistan-e-Johar was associated with Airblue from last seven years. Similarly, Ume Habiba, resident of Sector 5, New Karachi joined the airline two years ago.
