Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

Re: Breaking News!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

Agree with you. i have way too many questions in my mind and i tend to not buy american version completely unless given proof.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

So as I understand this...

  1. Osama bin laden was found in Pakistan after top pakistani officials have denied for years that he is in Pakistan.
  2. He was found in the backyard of the MOST INTELLIGENT AND SECURE unit in Pakistan...ISI
  3. ISI was oblivoius to Bin Laden...i.e. ISI who tries to protect the entire country and is supposed to gather intelligence from around the world...does not even know what is breeding in their backyard
  4. The US choppers carry on their operation...and ISI has no clue
  5. Zardari or Gilani are yet to comment on these events.

This leads me to believe:
1. We need to fire a whole bunch of people
2. It maks me wonder if Obama had not called Zardari to tell him that they have found and killed Osama...pakistan would never have found out. It would have been business as usual
3. Sounds like ISI is taking lots of naps....if they dont suspect anything when 4 choppers are hovering in the air right above them, how are they going to protect the whole country?
4. Zardari and Gilani are both afraid to comment. Any comment they make is going to be criticized and they will be under heavy fire. They are going to embarass themselves. Also, if they praise the american operation and claim they had knowledge, they would be under fire from Islamic militants. If they say they had no prior knowledge of bin laden being in pakistan and about US operation they will be under fire from people of Pakistan. So the best thing to do is say nothing which is what they have been doing
5. I have a good feeling that USA carried out this operation without any knowledge or consulting with pakistani officials. obama went out of his way to thank Pakistan to repress any kind of concerns about USA using such discretion and liberty in another country and to aviod concerns about USA appearing big brotherish.

Just 800 yards away from the world’s most wanted man: How U.S. soldiers trained Pakistani troops… next to Bin Laden’s hideaway

U.S. troops were just 800 yards from Osama Bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound during a training rotation in Pakistan in 2008, it has emerged.
**The embarrassing proof that some of America’s best military men were so close to the world’s most wanted terrorist was found buried in diplomatic cables released by whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks. **
Mention of Abbottabad is sparse in the cables - but when it is, the significance is chilling, particularly as other information indicates the U.S. may have been on the path that would lead them to Bin Laden as early as 2008.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

According to latest reports obl was unarmed when he was killed I wonder why wasn't he arrested

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

If Pakistani Army had even a little bit of respect left then they should immediately capture high ranking terrorists and show the world that we want peace as well. Secondly a true secular party needs to be ruling Pakistan, not Pee Pee Pee who bend over to Islamic extremists.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

Think about the terrorist attacks, kidnapping and hijacking attempts in demand of his release if they kept him alive. its better to close a chapter than to start a new book.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

*if that's the case then why did they arrest Saddam and paraded him in front of the camera and try him in the court, hang him and then give him a proper burial? [NOT at sea!]
*

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

Quite a difference between OBL & Saddam. Saddam was the President while OBL is a prick. Saddam was arrested and paraded and have trial just to boost the fragile political structure of Iraq.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

**i don't think so. US has this 'perceived threat' that Bin Laden's burial or capturing alive would have been a bigger threat while Saddam's capture and months' long trial and subsequent hanging had a REAL threat which was carried out in the form of bombings all across Iraq.

Same Bil Laden, when the US couldn't find him, was declared 'insignificant' and 'irrelevant' in the war on terror but, all of a sudden, after they found and killed him [as they claim], he became the most 'important' guy!

this and the absence of any pictures and hastily disposing of the body at sea leads me to believe the US is trying to hide something which only they know or Allah knows!**

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

Agreed the Americans should give some proof so as to put an end to the conspiracy theories once for all

Re: Breaking News!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

its funny now americans are showing confusions, first they said osama was armed now they are sayin g he was not armed, first they said he was on the upper stories of the building and now they are saying he was on the lower stories…

U.S. Says Bin Laden Lacked Weapons When Shot in Raid
By MARK LANDLER and HELENE COOPER

**Published: May 3, 2011 **

WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden was not carrying a weapon when he was killed by American troops in a fortified house in Pakistan, the White House said Tuesday, as it revised its initial account of the nighttime raid. Members of a Navy Seals team burst in on Bin Laden in the compound where he was hiding and shot him in a room on the third floor, after a fierce gun battle with other operatives of Al Qaeda on the lower floors.

Bin Laden’s wife, who was with him in the room, “rushed the U.S. assaulter and was shot in the leg but not killed,” said the White House spokesman, Jay Carney, reading from the brief account, which was provided by the Defense Department. “Bin Laden was then shot and killed. He was not armed.”

Mr. Carney said that Bin Laden’s lack of a weapon did not mean he was ready to surrender, and he and other officials reiterated that this was a violent scene, that there was heavy fire from others in the house, and that the soldiers did not know whether the occupants were wearing suicide belts or other explosives.
Still, the account diverged in some respects from one offered Monday by the president’s chief counterterrorism advisor, John O. Brennan. He had said Bin Laden was “engaged in a firefight with those that entered the area of the house he was in,” adding, “whether or not he got off any rounds, I frankly don’t know.”

Mr. Brennan also said then that Bin Laden used his wife as “human shield” to protect himself from gunfire. But officials now say that the death of another woman killed in the crossfire on another floor led them to draw that false conclusion.

White House officials said the discrepancies resulted from their haste to provide details about a chaotic, fast-moving military operation to an intensely interested American public. As more troops from the 79-member assault team were debriefed, and their accounts were crosschecked with those of other team members, there were bound to be changes in the account, these officials said.

But the episode also reveals the pressures as the White House, intent on telling a dramatic story about a successful operation, sought to manage a 24-hour news media ravenous for immediate and vivid details.
One of the issues officials were wrestling with Tuesday was whether to release a photo of Bin Laden’s body. In fact, even as Mr. Brennan was giving his account on Monday, other officials began clarifying parts of the story for reporters.

Several experts on the rules of engagement in combat said that in a raid on a target as dangerous as Bin Laden, the Navy Seals team would be justified to open fire at the slightest commotion when they burst into a room.

“If he were surrendering, or knocked out and unconscious on the ground, that would raise serious questions," said John B. Bellinger III, legal counsel at the National Security Council and State Department in the Bush administration.

“But this is a guy who’s extremely dangerous,” he said. “If he’s nodding at someone in the hall, or rushing to the bookcase or you think he’s wearing a suicide vest, you’re on solid ground to kill him.”
Other experts noted that the members of the Navy Seals faced difficult conditions, moving through dim rooms under gunfire, and needing to make a split-second judgment about whether Bin Laden posed a threat.

“They say he was unarmed now, but did the Seals know he was unarmed?” said Scott L. Silliman, an expert of legal doctrine in combat at Duke University Law School. “It was in the dark. They were wearing goggles.”

At the United Nations, questions arose about the killing. The organization’s senior human rights official, Navi Pillay, called for more details from the Obama administration.

While noting that Bin Laden was a dangerous man who masterminded terrorist attacks, she said any operation against him should have been done legally.

During Monday’s briefing, Mr. Brennan said President Obama put a premium on protecting the soldiers in the operation, saying that “we were not going to give Bin Laden or any of his cohorts the opportunity to carry out lethal fire on our forces.”

None were harmed in the raid, though there was a tense moment when one of the two helicopters suffered a mechanical failure and was destroyed by the soldiers.

Despite expecting Bin Laden to put up a fight, Mr. Brennan said the assault team had made contingency plans for capturing, rather than killing him. “If we had the opportunity to take Bin Laden alive, if he didn’t present any threat, the individuals involved were able and prepared to do that,” he said.

Still, Mr. Brennan was eager to draw larger lessons from what he said was Bin Laden’s use of his wife as a shield.

“Here is Bin Laden, who has been calling for these attacks, living in this million-dollar-plus compound, living in an area that is far removed from the front, hiding behind women who were put in front of him as a shield,” he said. “I think it really just speaks to just how false his narrative has been over the years.”
Some of the confusion stemmed from the difference in time zones. The news of the raid came very late on a Sunday night in the United States, but Bin Laden had actually been killed early Monday by Pakistan time, not late on Sunday as had been initially reported.

Meanwhile, the White House continued to grapple with the question of whether to release the photo of the dead Bin Laden, or other documentary evidence. Administration officials said that they are trying to determine whether the visceral desire among Americans — and some skeptics — to see proof outweighs the potential that such images might further inflame Bin Laden’s disciples.

The photo, taken after Bin Laden was killed, clearly identifies the Qaeda leader, according to one official who has viewed it. “It looks like him, covered in blood with a hole in his head,” the official said.
White House officials say they are still deciding what to do, although one official said that they were leaning toward releasing the photo.

“It’s fair to say that it’s a gruesome photograph.” Mr. Carney said. “I’ll be candid. There are sensitivities here in terms of the appropriateness of releasing photographs of Osama bin Laden.”

Another possibility might be to release the photo of Bin Laden’s burial at sea, although his body is wrapped in a cloth and is less easily identifiable.

Scott Shane contributed reporting from Washington, and Neil MacFarquhar from New York.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

as soon they captured saddam, they handed him over to the muslim govt

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

I am beyond embarrassed as a Pakistani . Kayani and the entire army and Intelligence operation should jump in the ocean with Bin Laden. These people are supposed to defend us? The army is the biggest joke in the world today, a laughing stock. Worst day for Pakistan since the loss of East Pakistan. Shame shame shame.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

I would like to see accountability. If we f***** up, I would like to hear, that we f***** up. I dont want to hear excuses like "we also played a role" "we were also involved in providing intelligence to USA." This is not cricket world cup whereby we can say that getting to the semi final was a good consolation. We need to deliver 110% here.

Also, pakistan as a country should stop settling for less and ask for answers from the people that are paid top salaries to keep the country safe.

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

The so-called Pakistani who born with embarrassment and would remain embarrass for rest of their lives no matter what happens...

as for others, so far nothing has been shown to prove that they have actually captured and killed OBL... it is all hearsay, just like Americans lied to 200 nations about the WMDs of Iraq, I am doubting that OBL was even present in the house... there is only one source of information on the whole episode.. and that source is not authentic as many thinks it is...

No video evidence, no photos, no nothing, isn't OBL was some kind of big fish for them... they spent trillions of dollars to catch the guy and yet they fail to produce a single piece of evidence that they have actually captured and killed him??? what is the hold back??? are they looking for the actors who can take part in this? or their editing department have got some problems??? there is surely something not right about the whole thing...

Re: Breaking News!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

I think it’s high time you should come out of your dreams.. the wife and children are in Pak establishments’s custody. If the whole thing is a hoax, Pakistan’s establishment can always bring them to live TV and deny the whole story instead of facing the global suspicion. It’s this attitude of Pakistani nation which has brought us in to the mess. We refuse to see anything wrong with our own security agencies..

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead

^^ To the hell with the image of the passport of the wife and send the children of Osama to hell as well... where is the dead body, what was the hurry to dispose him in sea? why not the body was on the live media, why not they were not been able to release any photo whereas they have spent trillions of dollars to hunt this man...

I guess it is high time that you stop believing everything US president and Media tells you...
