Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

A lot of what he said made sense, the question is will he implement it. Let's hope so, because if he does than Pakistan will regains its glory days agian.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

Let us pray rather,
Poitns seems ok,

but basball coach ? I would rather recommend a 'Murghi chor' as a fielding coach ... no not a joke, you have to be skillful to catch a murghi ...

Post 2003 WC early exit:

"We have to plan for the future"...."Öur target is 2007 Worldcup"

Post 2007 WC early exit:

"We have to plan for the future"....."Our target in 2011 Worldcup"

Seems they have a standard document that is dusted every four years....

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf’s press Conference

There is a huge difference on cricket fielding and baseball when it comes to ground fielding. Specially when u r on critical positions such as slips and point. The cricket ball swings on ground after the first bounce sometimes the second and u can miss it, it depends on the shot played, the angel of bat & the force.

Similar difference in catching, its a huge diff to do it with bare hands & with gloves.

A base ball players gets the ball, transfer it to other to throw back, in cricket these fractions of seconds r critical for run outs, modern cricket fielding coaches teach u how to get it in a arm flow so u throw it back as soon as u get the grip of ball & i doubt a baseball coach even have the idea of what we r talking here :o

And about all the other things … its been 20 years since i hear in news “aglay saal se load shedding nahi hogi” and it still does and they tell the nation the same.

so lets see

btw didnt this guy resigned already?

:bravo:

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

There is no better place to find future cricketers than schools. And this is the place where all the investment of money, attention and planning should go. Than one day we won't need to hire a baseball coach from US to teach our grown-ups how to pick up a bowl.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf’s press Conference

I doubt we will ever get to report this to you. I think we should outsource all of our domestic cricket to Australia :bummer:

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

why the dude hasnt resigned or been fired yet? Lets start with the clean slate and appoint competant men at top of PCB not some ass kissers who have never played the game of cricket

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

He did, but the President has rejected his resignation, so nothing can be done about it except venting. Let's hope and pray that he implements the changes he's talking about.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf’s press Conference

Aside from all the changes Naseem Chacha is talking about, if this has any weight, http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=248952 then it will be a huge issue to contend with. Why was Mushtaq in the side that lost yet again in bizzarre circumstances and the COACH being murdered (yet to be proven).

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

this guy has made lots of promises before as well and was not able to fulfil any of them ... the constitution was supposed to be implemented on jan 31st if you guys remember.... just more lies ...

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

we'll see if he can walk the talk.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

These are merely words from the horse's mouth. I don't believe in any of his sentimental rather over-optimistic rants. We heard similar promises after the last debacle in 2003. Getting our cricket back on track is about actions not words. Having known the politics within the PCB and Pakistan cricket for so long, I would only believe that something is being done once I see green tops and bouncy pitches in Pakistan and our team fielding and batting with the same discipline and professionalism as Australia. Australia are deservedly the number one team in the world and are the benchmark for every cricket-playing nation.

Until I am convinced that Ashraf can walk the talk, this is NOT breaking news for me. I need to see results...................

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf’s press Conference

Naseem has more to resolve then just proving his own words. There is a shadow of match fixing hanging over Pakistan Cricket again. And legitimate questions regarding Mushtaq express drafting into the team as a coach.
Although I am also fearful that this is more of the same old rhetoric, I still wish for the sake of cricket followers in Pakistan (including myself) that some or all of this is implemented.
:halo:

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

hahaha

how about we refresh this thread before home series against India and see how much of the promises have been fulfilled?

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

Despite all the criticism he gets, at least Naseem Ashraf seems to have the right intention and knows a thing or two about Cricket. His Indian conterpart - Sharad Pawar - meanwhile is a thoroughbred politician who has only passing knowledge of Cricket. The sad thing is that unlike in Pakistan, Indians are not even questioning his credentials or the performance of the board.

I do not hear anybody asking why there is so much paucity in talent in India's domestic circuit despite the board sitting on a mountain of cash (which could be easily pumped into improving the domestic setup).

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

Performance based contract? How about starting from the top.. shouldn't Ashraf himself be sacked because of his dismal performance during the past 5 months?

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

5 months is hardly time to set things right. While I am not a supporter of his, he did say in his press conference today that upon taking over he consulted many ex players and they all advised him to keep his plans pn ice till after the WC. I am sure that if he had put these or any other plans into action before the world cup we would all be now berating him for upsetting a settled team and held him responsible for the failure of the WC campaign.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

Well, we can only hope, but I doubt he'll make much headway.

  1. No foreign coach? Why not just the "best" coach regardless of where he's from?

  2. A baseball coach from US? Well that would not only be a foreign coach, but from a foreign sport as well.

  3. Agree with the mental toughness and the infrastructure part, but that's just talk at this point. Hopefully something concrete will come out of it.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

The only thing that is ridiculous on Ashraf's agenda is hiring a baseball fielding coach. I understand that Ashraf is a former US Resident...but this is RIDICULOUS....I mean is he trying to say that there aren't enough Cricket fielding coaches around. How crazy is that. Plus , in my personal opinion - fielding in Cricket is VERY DIFFERENT from that in Baseball.

Re: Breaking News: Nasim Ashraf's press Conference

The reason Ashraf probably wants to get a basball fielding coach is because the Aussies used to or still do have a fielding coach who used to be a baseball fielding coach. I think it will be a good idea.

yeah Baseball and cricket are 2 different things...but what Pakistani players need to learn are the basics...like how to dive, and how to keep your head steady while running after the ball, etc. If you see Kaneria or Yousuf diving after a ball, you know right away there's something wrong with these guys. They need to learn the basics and go on from there.

Lets give Ashraf some time to prove himself and see what he does. 5 months right before the world cup is not enough and he was brought in when Pakistani team was already going through a rough time. Lets hope for the best.
