Now since it seems it was a sonic boom by an Airforce aircraft, the question is what was Mr Shah smoking (pun intended).

but guys any idea what sort of a boom is created when the barrier is broken? is it really that big?

yeah mufakkar, i did some research, youre right, Chaklala has only the C130 squadron, No.6, and No.12 with Boeing 707 and Fokker and No. 41 with Cessna 172.
but i find it surprising actually, i always thought there were fighters at Chaklala. it would sound only natural if the big base at the capital city with all military HQs would have fighters...i wnder whats the reason they dont...?

Well Haris, I think they built Kamra airbase for the Islamabad Rawalpindi area. Islamabad airport is fast getting surrounded by densley populated areas on all sides so that could be one reason why wish to avoid it. Maybe the airforce could have used Qasim base in Rawalpindi along with army aviation. Oh well, I'll try to find out if there were any specific reasons.
