Re: Break salah
Peace LP,
It is very simple. If you’re offering Nafli Namaaz then you can break it but if you are offering obligatory Salaah then you must shorten (brief) your salaah, answer to the called person and then continue completing your salaah afterwards. You may break obligatory salaah unless there is life threatening situation.
Salaah cannot be broken unless for the following reasons:
- That which invalidates Ablution.
- Uncovering the ‘awrah deliberately.
- Turning away from the Qiblah direction to a large extent.
- Presence of impurity on body/clothes/place where one is praying.
- Excessive continuous movement during the prayer for no essential reason.
- Omitting one of the essential part of the prayer or deliberately doing an extra part or doing it before others.
- Deciding to stop praying.
- Laughing out loud. Merely smiling does not invalidate the prayer.
- Deliberately speaking.
- Eating and drinking, etc.
I haven’t came across a source where it is mentioned about how to break Salaah. However, I heard that if a person is offering four rakat salaah then he/she may shorten it to two rakats then say salaam and this is how he/she may break a salaah (No source/reference, better to check).
Almighty Allah knows best.
