Ameen. I am just a student of deen and also suffer from stage fright.
hehehe
It is really difficult ... I have only done so twice. But I made it a mission to prepare. The second topic was about facing the media hype in a positive manner and not letting us be drawn into a state of negativity as a result of slanderous antics. To show that we are not like what we are said to be like in the papers but to add with concerted effort to be better.
Alhumdulillah I think the topic did me justice and the people were listening without falling asleep. I did not do the khutbah longer than 15 minutes. I tried to use an array of references starting with an article from a newspaper.
The first topic was about the etiquettes of Islam and learning, which was a hard topic made easy because I took most of the material from a single book. On that occasion however, the ameer of the Islamic society complained that I did not read Surah Fatihah properly in jammat so it was read again by someone else. Embarassing ... later he listened to me again and took back his statement.
