The general perception about MahaBharata is it deals with war between Pandavs and Kauravas. What other topics are covered in between the story?

It deals with the true family politics, how a father is blinded by the love of his son, however wrong his son is. how a teacher always fecilitates rise of his disciple, Earth is made of people with grey characters, it is never black and white, millitary formation from marching in coloums to horse shoe formation, a journey to heaven,a true friendship works more than bond of brothehood, right and wrong is relative and depends on the side you are on means one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. It is book about everything:)

It was written by C rajgoplachri in english first, original version has more than 1 Lakh shlokas, english version has all the essence of mahabharat, it is just abridged version of the book:)

Re: Books that changed the world
War of the worlds by HG Wells sort of invented a whole new genre- Science fiction. Also first book to write about alien invasion.
Also lets not forget this contribution which spanned centuries - KamaSutra :D

Can we say that KamaSutra made basis for Playboy and like magazines?

Noipe. unlike popular belief, kamasutra is a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life . Only a portion of the work consists of practical advice on sex. It was the first book which gave an insight into human sexual behaviour. It is more of a how-to-manual for all aspects of life from priorities of life, acquiring knowledge, good conduct to acquiring a wife and other thing it is now-a-days popular for. So not sure if we can liken playboy and kamasutra :)

It seems that KamaSutra and Behashti Zevar are from same genre. Hope I don't get a fatwa for this ;)

Re: Books that changed the world
Much different. Focus of kamasutra is about relationship/making love. The Kama Sutra Book
While behishti zewar is about making a good muslimah, it is basic guide to islam for novice.
Wonder what made you comment like this.
Re: Books that changed the world
I found it similar to Kama Sutra as Kama Sutra is a how-to-manual for all aspects of life from priorities of life, acquiring knowledge, good conduct to acquiring a wife, etc. As far I remember the content of Behashti Zevar, it also deals with connected issues like how to be a Naik Parveen Bibi bearing all the bad from husband and remain contend (sabir o shakir) on the presumption that such behavior will win heart of the husband.
Basically both books seems to cover ways how to appease spouses.
Re: Books that changed the world
I am not familiar with Behashti Zever but KamaSutra is aimed at both men and women not just women. Men are also taught how to select wife, treating a wife , making her happy etc..
Kamasutra is divided into 7 parts:
**Part 1: General **: aims and priorities in life, getting knowledge, how to behave and conduct yourself in a well-bred manner.
Part 2: Amorous Advances: This is the part that Ninja Hattori read out of curiosity- Deals with 64 types of sexual union.![]()
Part 3: Acquiring a Wife: how to get a wife, using an intermediary to find a spouse or managing alone, and marriage.
Part 4: Duties and privileges of the wife: The title says it all…
Part 5: Other men’s wives: Behavior of woman and man, how to behave with the spouses of other men and behaviour in women’s quarters.
Part 6: Courtesans: looking for a lover, renewing friendship with a formal lover etc.
Part 7: Occult practices
There is no order to the parts like such and such part comes before and after a particular part. It is to be read and adapted to situation in life accordingly ![]()
