Blix: Iraq is Disarming

You did not address the counter to those claims which have been reported (that Changez posted), and have rubbished the initial US-UK claims. Here take a read:-

Iraq fires short-range FROGs, not Scuds, at targets in Kuwait](http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/275256.html)

Malik, Thank you :flower1: :flower1: i appreciate it.

Seminole, You state that Paragraph 14 does not state that Iraq is allowed banned weapons if other countries do not disarm simoultaneously. If i use this as an example, i think it would be possible for me to argue that Paragraph 14 also does not state that there can be a 13 year ‘gap’ in forcing other countries to disarm.

Israel’s WMD have nothing to do with Hussein’s reasons for holding on to his.
i agree, you are absolutely right they do not. But do you - even somewhat - see that there might be a case of double standards here ? When countries such as Qatar, or Saudi are allowed to be armed to the teeth - what sort of precise ‘example’ does that lay down for Iraq ? Please, please don’t think that i am making excuses for the government of Iraq; i am merely stating that - IMHO it is contradictory to pursue different policies particularly when we are specifically discussing the terms of a Resolution that was adopted by the Security Council. What sort of message does that send out to countries, including Iraq - if the same Resolution is implemented in a vastly different manner depending upon the particular country involved?

Words of Hans Blix, on a potential American search in Iraq for supposed WMD (after the invasion and occupation is over): “I am very curious to see if they find something. The paradox is, if they don’t find something, then you have sent in 250,000 men to wage war in order to find nothing.”

US was ‘dubious’ from the start, says disappointed Blix, Belfast Telegraph, 23 March 2003

After all the doubts, only one aim can justify this war: freedom for the Iraqi people, Independent Editorial, 21 March 2003

Some more reading for Seminole to do - maybe next time he will check the facts before believing the LIES told by his government…
