Blast Hits Central Baghdad Hotel-Witnesses

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A powerful car bomb exploded outside a central Baghdad hotel used by U.S. security personnel on Sunday, and a policeman at the scene said at least 10 people were killed.
Sirens wailed as ambulances raced to the scene. A car was ablaze outside the Baghdad Hotel, widely thought to be used by members of the CIA and other officials of the U.S.-led coalition.
The lower floor of the building next door was on fire.
An Iraqi eyewitness said he saw a white car crash through the security barrier and explode.
“I saw a car coming toward the hotel. One of the guards opened fire and it exploded,” Nael Murkos said.
A Reuters photographer said he saw at least four casualties brought into a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
U.S. helicopters circled overhead minutes after the blast, obscured by the thick smoke. Dozens of Iraqi police raced to the scene.
The blast shook windows several blocks away. It was the latest in a series of attacks aimed at Western targets in Iraq, which the U.S. blames on guerrillas resisting the U.S.-led occupation. (Reporting by Brian Williams, editing by Philippa Fletcher))

The American think that they have won the war and are now the de facto rulers of Iraq, but the reality paints a different picture. yes the American soldiers are in Iraq but the proud muslims of Iraq will never allow them to rest on their laurels and will continue with the brave resistence until the AMericans leave. The attacks keep on coming and the American dead keep on mounting and the American elections are due next year, What new tricks do the americans have up their sleeves to restore law and order in Iraq? The europeans have refused to send troops to fight a war which is not theirs. So will we see America sacrifice thousands of its soldiers in Iraq or will they make a tactical withdrawal back to the USA? Time will tell, but the attacks and resistence keeps on growing i think Iraq will be Americas graveyard like afganistan was for the russians.
What are they waiting for? The country is turning into a morgue. Get the bloody heck out of there. If even thousands of Iraqi Shias are demonstrating against the occupation, then for what purpose are they staying? For whom are they staying? No one wants their "help".
How many more explosions, shootings at checkpoints, suicide attacks and demonstrations need to occur before the US admin wakes up and realizes they have dug themselves into a quagmire with Iraq? They'll blame this again on "remnants" of "Saddam's government". Everything is conveniently caused by "remnants" of the "former regime". Yet, to date, there has never been a demonstration in support of the invaders. They have far outlived their welcome by now.

The proud 'muslims' today killed 6 innocent Iraqis in this attack. America leaves Iraq a regime ruled by brutal force will take it's place, but if their Muslim and hate America that's ok seems to be the message here.
America has installed many more brutal regimes than most care to remember. This notion that as soon as American troops leave the country will be taken over by some brutal dictator is a misnoma. Brutal dictators quite often do fill the political vacuum in many states - with US support, aid and finance.
What America is really concerned about is a regime taking over which does not secure her interests - such as an Islamic one. Amongst her many objective this war was also about supressing the rise of political Islam.
Apparently it is the fault of everyone else but the terrorists who drive cars full of explosives and kill their fellow muslim brothers and sisters. Where is the sense in that? It is biting your nose to spite your face. These people will never learn and in the course of it, they would keep the muslim world slding ever so backwards. TO be lauded indeed.

they said they will liberate iraqi’s and now they are liberating them by killing them on regular basis and by compromising the security of millions. where were these terrorist before invasion?
