Sadsob, who got the middle of the midlands? Get over it, he won fair and square, cry all you want. The other guy, wushisname, Howard somethin looks so stupid and when he opens his mouth, he confirms it. Tony’s cool. Long live Tony. Our English Poodle. Thank god for our English puppies.
Maddy I couldn't agree more. I've been a Lib Dem supporter since my mid teens, but even I admit that Kennedy lacks substance. Both he and Howard gave half hearted campaigns, and it was obvious from day one that neither expected to win.
Oona King and many other ousted labour MPs have paid for Blair's mistake. the whole party must feel let down by him, and I really can't see them supporting him for another 5 years.
He’s lost the youthful charm he brought to New Labour in 1997, and he's not got anything more to offer his party, or this country.
Edgbaston was where i voted but that stupid Gisela got through, even though her majority was substantially reduced. Khalid Mahmood winning in Perry Barr was a shame but the biggest shame as far as Birmingham goes was Labour winning in sparkbrook and small heath with a 48% muslim population.
I was one of them that 'spoiled' their ballot. Well I'd had some really hot koftay the night before and had to go. The communists lost out I tells yah, but then again them koftay were worth it.
^ Yes Lib Dem took Yardley seat in Birmingham. Respect split the vote in sparkbrook and small heath seat, collectively respect and lib dem got over 18k vote comapred to labours 13 but individually respect got 10 and lib dem 8. Shame really.
Overall, I am delighted that Balir got a bloody nose and lost nealry 100 seats and now is a lame duck PM who will be lucky to see the year out.
Ehsan, what surprised me about Sparkbrook/Small Heath was the amount of people that voted for Respect instead of the Lib Dems. If you read their literature, Respect don't actually have any clearly defined policies ... the whole party is a load of hot air. Hussain (Lib Dem) might have won had it not been for Respect. Pakistani voters don't even know what they're voting for half the time ... take my mum for instance, she voted for Tony blair, as he was the best looking out the three, and she did not wnat to end up with an ugly PM :o
Zakk, yeh Lib dems gained Yardley from Labour, which was a bit of a surprise considering there's fewer Muslims living there than Perry Barr or Sparkbrook/Small Heath (I think)
Sadi...my friend..British Pakistani..is an active Labour party worker..he kept getting asked in white areas while canvassing..how as a Muslim he could be canvassing for the Labour party!
And if you ask most people they know next to nothing about Lib Dem and Respect Policies..Respect totally was a protest vote and a wasted one which saved Labour from losing another 6 or 7 seats...
Btw the best pic of the election is without doubt:
What else do you expect him to say. It's his job to promote faith in the system. Let's see what the future holds. It has been established by popular public opinion that Blair is a liar so lets not start believing him straight away , actions speak louder than words.
The majority of Muslims in Britain did not participate for various reasons. I for one saved myself from invoking the wrath of Allah onto myself by not taking part in a haram act.
You're assuming that anyone who doesn't vote sits at home and does nothing. The reality is everyone who votes sits at home hoping their vote makes a difference. For the rest of the four or five years there is no political activity.
