An astringent is basically a toner that contains alcohol. It's used on oily/acne prone skin.. it's drying so u must follow-up with a moisturizer.

It can be either or..either a toner OR an astringent.
L'oreal, Olay, SeaMinerals all have nice toners and astringents.
