It sure does. The most common kind is to cause conflicts and discord between a husband and wife. Others can affect your ability to have children, job/marriage prospects and bunch of other stuff. Another sign you may be afflicted is that you’ll experience symptoms but medical examinations will either not find anything or they will find something that nobody can explain.
The sorcerers (aka saahirs). They’ll do it for money, prestige. The more interesting is question is who pays them to do it. That’s usually someone jealous of the target. Sometimes they have something to gain with their target being out of the picture, e.g. they want you out of the way so they can have your inheritance.
I’m not familiar with that name, but from what I remember, the person who sihr is out of the fold of Islam. And if I remember correctly, those who have it done (knowingly I imagine) are also out of the fold.
