I am a hindu and I eat beef. I come from a place where beef is available freely. There is no fatwa or of that sort against meat eating in India.

That could be the key thing there, in many places Hindus hold cows very sacred and we have read news of riots after some Hindu(s) saw cow being slaughtered etc.
