Re: BJP plan to set life term for cow killing
If the above news is true [BJP plan to set life term for cow killing], it is wonderful news for Pakistan. Whatever one does with the cow, cow needs keeping and feeding. Once they become unproductive (cows as any mammal stops giving milk when they stop breading due to age), they become uneconomical, as they cannot be killed for food and skin due to personal belief or government restrictions, no one wants to feed them and they gets neglected.
Nevertheless, when they are there they need food to survive. Most of the time they feed from rubbish heap, still one can see them skinny and diseased on Indian streets scavenging, living miserably. There is no such problem in Pakistan as Pakistani cows fed properly, as proper feeding makes a cow more productive for milk, meat and skin (for use in leather goods production).
Seeing pathetic condition of Indian unfortunate cows, many become concerned. At Pakistan-Indian border areas, especially Rajasthan, it is long practice (since 1947) by Indians there to hush these cows into Pakistan so that these cows can find their rightful place in food chain. Since BJP has more control in Gujarat and Rajasthan areas, hopefully, this law would get enforce there, resulting in Pakistan getting more free cows hushed across border into Pakistan.
Thus, I think it is good news for Pakistan as probably now more cows will be available to slaughter houses in Pakistan, reducing price of cow meat (making life of Pakistani poor easier). It would also increase cheep leather supply in Pakistan and would help making Pakistan leather goods exports competitive.
[Recent economical growth in Pakistan must have increased demand of cow meats in the country. Finding shortage of cows to slaughter (due to increase in demand) it is possible that Pakistani slaughterhouses may have bribed corrupt BJP politicians for this law. We cannot tell but it is a possibility. Nevertheless, I think that it is best to enforce such laws in India and make more Indo-Pakistan border porous. It would help.]
