Birthdays

Re: Birthdays

Birthdayz in our family were nuthing fancy…just a family get together, loadz of food n a cake lol…and now we dnt celebrate at all in terms of party etc, altho’ we do giv presents … :balley:

Re: Birthdays

My parents never celebrated my birthday nor do I celebrate birthdays of my kids.
I can't find any single good reason for celebrating our birthdays.

Re: Birthdays

Nice

Re: Birthdays

Hareem, thats a bit sad yeah? I mean, the day that each of my boys were born were the happiest days of my life...and more than enough reason to celebrate...even if its just cake with candles to blow out and wish on, a little gift and a "thank you for blessing my life". No need to go overboard with these expensive parties but it IS a special day. IMHO.

Re: Birthdays

Exactly the same here

I looooove Birthdays! My last birthday, my friends got this belly dancer to giggle around with a cake.......i was like errrr am i a man? do you really think I'm enjoying this? I had such a disgusted look in all the photos! hehe

Re: Birthdays

i never got the whole "My super sweet sixteen" thing...that they show on MTV... the whole show is absolutely disgusting.

Re: Birthdays

Funny you asked. Thinking back, my mother had an interesting spin on this thing. She'd celebrate our (me and my siblings) birthdays in a grand manner one year, and will not celebrate it at all the next. Sometimes, we'd skip a couple of years or three years before a big bash. Her thinking was that she didn't want us to expect a big b'day every year and not get used to it! :D

No elaborate b'days in my mid-teens, just a fancy dinner and presents. Since marriage, b'days are usually just an excuse to party and have friends get together for a good time.

My kids are again very unpredictable (guess, the thing runs in the family!). My eldest is very choosy about her friends, so it will usually be a low-key affair with only select few of her friends and likely at home. My son couldn't care less what happens on his b'day but we'd usually put together a small party for him at some place (mini-golf, bowling etc). My youngest always wants the grandest parties and unashamedly asks for expensive gifts from all the guests. She is really funny and cute. After the party she makes a big hooplah over all the gifts she gets, performs an instant fashion show for any dresses that she gets, adds up all the gift cards, personally write thank you notes, wants the pictures uploaded online right away to share with family, and generally has the best time.
