So i changed my mind 50 times before the actual birthday and ended up doing a desi menu and i am glad i did. Boy it was a lot of work though since i did everything myself.
The menu was
chicken korma
gosht salan (was supposed to be khara masala gosht but really wasnt; no one was the wiser)
matar keema (that my family forgot at home so we didnt serve it 
i only discovered when i took the foil covers off the food! )
aloo palak
karhi (this was a big hit, my family was against me making it but everyone finished it all, they thought it was a nice addition)
white rice
naan
dessert was cake and icecream. For the birthday cake, i did a small cake for my daughter to cut and served cupcakes in two flavors.
Kanjoos , first birthday and itna chota sa menu , cupcakes instead of cake. 
Just kidding.
