If birth control is haram or “shirk” then we wouldn’t have seen the sahabas practicing it. Jabir (RA) said: “We used to practice (‘Azl) coitus interruptus during the days when the Qur’an was being revealed” and “We used to practice coitus interruptus during the lifetime of Allah’s Messenger while the Qur’an was being revealed.” (Sahih Bukhari vol. 7, Hadith no. 136)
