Bio Oil

Re: Bio Oil

I first bought and used bio oil some 9 years when I had acne, so I used it on my face. It didn't do anything to balance my oily skin or lighten the blemishes and the small bottle just lay there in my drawer since.

A few months ago, I rediscovered it on moving out and thought I'd finish it off just to moisturise my body. The results have been pretty great but I have been using it regularly (at least every other day) and you have to really massage it in. Half way through a bigger bottle now as well.

My Back - for some reason, when ever I go to Pakistan in the summer, when I come back to the UK, I get a breakout on my back about a month later. The last time I went was 2008 and some of the scars were still there as well as my back being pretty dry (probably due to my hot showers in this cold weather). My back is now silky smooth and the old blemishes are barely visible.

Legs - as many of you know, I've had laser but unfortunately it can't get rid of those pesky hairs that are really, really fine and that ingrow in a coil at the surface of the skin. I had these on my outer shins, which before I'd exfoliate quite harsly, which would leave little brown marks. In the last couple of months, I have been exfoliating gently with an exfoliating mitt and keeping my legs moisturised with bio oil. Not only do those hairs no longer ingrow (can no longer feel the bumps caused by them) but the brown marks have gone too. Now all that Laser was worth it because my legs are silky smooth. Previously, I thought the only way to sort out this area would be to have those hairs removed by electrolysis which wouldn't have been that easy.

Surgery Scar - I had surgery last June which left quite a decent scar. Didn't do anything post surgery until now. Scar which was dark purple/brown has faded a lot... seems to be fading from the inside out.

So, not having tried anything else, I can't say if any other oil would do the same job (it might) but Bio Oil has worked for me - providing enough is used and it's massaged into the skin really well. One thing I like about it is that it doesn't made everything (clothing etc) oily and greasy.

I bought 125ml bottle from superdrug for about £8 (was half price).

I think I will try the Rosehip for a few months in the same way for a comparison.

Re: Bio Oil

Can this oil be used for surgery scars. After laparotomy?
