Piling on lots of debt, going on an insatiable acquisition spree, too much goodwill in the balance sheet, huge unfunded pension liabilities are the harbinger of bad times ahead for a company.

Clintons went under, some of its shops were bought by other companies who are still running them under the same name. Woolworths online name was bought by another company when they went bankrupt. This is not the same company. Woolworths as we know it doesnt exist anymore. Comet’s online business has also been bought by someone. That does not mean that this Comet will be trading in future. ![]()

Mittal Steel may well be on its way. Mittal went on acquistoon spree at high prices piled on debt. Iron ore is expensive steel prices have dropped balance sheet weak.

More or less all of the British motor companies..
They had difficult times but Range rover, Rolls royce and Aston martin bounced back very well.Thanks to the great products and keeping market demand in mind.They are very much in demands.

Jaguar was acquired by Tata motors abt 5 yrs ago at peak of mkt. I thought they overpaid.

jessops the camera retailer has gone into administration since yesterday. 192 stores have been closed and close to 2000 people have lost their jobs. Another casualty of consumers switching to buying online.

Have been wrong on Amazon all these years. Amazon has put lots of companies out of business. Or brought them to the brink.
It is a good bet that Sears ( Sears Kmart) would go under.
