Its not just an image thing - Someone needs to be strong in the time of despair - to give hope for others. Take care of what needs to be done. Crying is a sign of ... break down per say.
It easier to sit down and cry, its harder to stand up and walk.

it takes a lot for the men in my fam to cry.. but the times they have, its been quite horrible…
also, i believe, the older you get (im talking middle age and above) the softer your heart gets.. i guess the thought of death, vulnerability, and not being able to do things that u once could do would bring tears to anyone’s eyes… and in that sense, i do think women are a lot stronger in their old age… maybe thats why they live longer… dunno
ive seen lots of men cry.. and its not a bad thing… unless ur the one making them cry…

Did you read the news? There is 41ish year old woman and 50ish year guy - still waiting for their honeymoon across the borders? Little towns across the street. As soon they got married, armies came and got them apart and borders were drawn. All communication has been cut since then. They both stood true their vows and still awaiting for their first night together. (which was soon to be come true - because of recent "friendship" wave of India / Pak). Girl said "I am still very excited about it"
