I don't know what best buy is or anything, but I can't understand the furore. Tesco in the UK always has banners up wishing customers "Happy Diwali" or "Happy Eid" or "Happy Christmas", I don't see anyone getting their undies in a twist.

I think America is more paranoid about Muslims than UK... Weirdo's.

So I just drove to Best Buy. It is 4 pm (I drove over at like 3 something) on Thanksgiving Day and there are already 30 people waiting.

I figured there is no way I’m going to get my computer.

someone in UK was the first to do it as well, wasnt it? and its not banners, its advertisements nationally.

and yes there was a lot of ppl getting undies in a twist boycotts, threats, yobs of national front having heart attacks over it. and this was pre 9/11 this when muslims for the most part were invisible in national discussions. from a percentage of population it has been much higher in UK so the marketing to them came earlier than in US.

the backlash may not have been as visible because there was no internet for idiots to go start posting hate msgs on, but the backlash was there.

so your homework, interview some elders and ask them what they know about how it was like in UK.

I bought a HP laptop from Staples that was the same as the mid level Sony Vaio deal in bestbuy. There were absolutely no crowds until 4.30. There was just another mexican guy with me till 4.30. People who went to bestbuy should have visited staples instead.

I got to office depot at 5 am - did not get it - just barely missed the laptop!!!

I went 2 hours early at Best Buy. The place opened at 5am. When I got the chance to go in ..No luck in the laptop I was looking for...grr! no chance!

complete mayhem.

Wal-mart across the street had lines goes across the Target parking lot.

It was first time I went for black friday. Totally sucked!
