Behind Every Joke...

Check this out . Whatever he is saying is exaggerated but its true . Isn’t it . Sugar coated and easy to swallow

Yes now I get this... But sometimes It's hard to understand that are they kidding or serious? Like u said if sibblings say something then we can understand they are jocking But If some friend or co-worker say this How can we figure our that were they kidding or Not?

It happend many times with me...People say something And then right away they say J/K And just smile n say It's Ok ..

Re: Behind Every Joke...

We have a remedy for that too. our typical 'aray main to mazaq kar rahaa thaa, aap to buraa maan ga'een' line works almost all the times.

Agree. It's intuition combined with observing body language....and having a good understanding of the nature of the person who made the joke.

Let's assume that you know a person isn't merely teasing...and is being snide...in the guise of a joke....how do you deal with the person?

Do you be the bigger and better person and let it go?

Do you look the person square in the eye and say "Come again? Did I hear what I think you said? Say it again!" I've heard this often makes the person uncomfortable to the point that they usually don't dare to squeak if they know they're guilty.

Do you figure....how low must a person feel to make such snide jokes...and that too in an underhanded cowardly manner? And move on.

“aray main to mazaq kar raha thaa, aap to bura maan ga’een” is tomato tomaato for “just kidding”…with a few more words. :stuck_out_tongue:

It may or may not be sincere. Could be a cover-up. :snooty:

aray main to mazaq kar raha thaa, aap to bura maan ga’een

Why do I get the strange feeling you end up saying this often to people? Apart from mentioning it twice here.

:rotfl:

OMG…that was hilarious!

“Sumbaaday gonna get hurt”

:rotfl:

its not my fault that people dont understand my jokes and often take them seriously. :snooty:

Re: Behind Every Joke...

Jokes are weird.

I am okay with joking about myself, but i don't like it when others do the same.

Re: Behind Every Joke…

Knowing so many jokes of all taste, I feel there is no reason to feel threatened by jokes and even if there is a hidden meaning (without being evil and deliberately hurtful), one should take them lightly or in many cases should give a serious thought to these jokes.

Anwar Maqsood, the writers of Fifty Fifty show and… Bill Maher have such a great way to joke! Very hard to beat that…

A light jokingly made sarcasm is all fine. (A serious sarcasm is obviously not good and acceptable and by definition is not a joke)

If a person cannot understand the difference then there is no need to joke with them.

To me, if I really like the person and trust that this person will get the joke , I joke with that person or really tease him/her to the point that I get an answer back…more fun this way…:hehe:

But if I am in to formal relation with anyone, I stay serious and avoid joking with that person.

I hear you. No one really likes to be joked around but in fact if close friends joke about you it may give you an insight of yourself better how you are being percieved by others around you.

You laugh and then change. Makes a better or happy person out of you.

For example, I have been made fun of being perfectionist and very punctual to fulfill my promise on time ..... If I said 1:30 PM, I was done by 1:25 PM. With some people around me pointing out that in jokes, I am relaxed and nothing bad happened. :)

Re: Behind Every Joke...

jokes wouldn't be funny if there wasn't some truth in it.

Re: Behind Every Joke...

^ Yes but that is not applied to 'all' jokes. A lot of jokes have no truth at all but still very funny.

I would agree with Njgal. Today's standup comedy routine is based on real life observations, hence people find it extremely funny. Rodney Dangerfield's style of comedy is long gone.

Re: Behind Every Joke…

i think behind every joke is your wife :hmmm: ..

The key here is 'todays stand up comedy routine'.

Jokes can be completely untrue, made up scenario, not relatedd to a known situation and still be funny.

Blonds are not really more stupid than many brunettes. In fact I have met more smart and upbeat blonds than many brunettes. And I have joked with those brunettes saying, "seriously, did you dye your hair?" :D

And rabbits don't talk or go to store looking for carrots :)
