But it may not necessarily be a general truth. For example, if someone says “You’re ugly” and says “just kidding”…how you interpret it could depend upon who made the joke. If a sibling says it…they may not mean it. IF someone you’re not too close (acquaintance, coworker, etc) says it…you may doubt their intentions. And even if that person DID MEAN their joke…then the joke is a “truth” for them…not necessarily a general truth. That individual might think you’re ugly, stupid, what have you. It’s THEIR truth. Unless you’ve been getting similar comments from a great number of people.
