unknownn: that they should draw their veils over their bosoms….” (Qur’an 24:30-31) It never stated to cover their heads......
This is the complete ayah
Surah Nur
31. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss
Woman's hair is part of her beauty so they should be covered, all the major muslim scholars are agree on this. Also In Christianity and Judaism women must cover their head.
neither in Hadice where the references are quoted from. I dont believe Allahjee lacks words to describe a simple act of covering the head IF it was meant to be so. I do believe in "haya" and pardah by wearing loose clothes and having coat on....as the for the covering of front part.
Allahjee has used word "khimar" and khimar is a head covering(scarf).... "that they should draw their veils(khimar) over their bosoms", now women in Pagan arab used to cover their heads with khimar but used to uncover or reveal their breast.
Allah(SWT) has used this particular word "khimar"(scarf) to order the women that they should cover their heads as well as their breasts.
And for hadith, here is a hadith.
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Asma bint Abu bakr, entered upon the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) wearing thin clothes. The Apostle of Allah turned his attention from her. He said: O Asma', when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it does not suit her that she displays her parts of body except this and this, and he pointed to her face and hands.
(Sunan Abi daud).
And a question for you....do you read salaat without covering your head?
